Although all contact lens looks alike, they actually are not the same.  Mostly your doctor will explain what lens is best for you but still you should be knowing a thing or two about contact lens that you can choose.  The contact lenses can be classified according to their use, material, wearing schedule and purpose.


Contact lenses can be classified into two materials.  One is soft and the other is hard.  Soft lenses are further categorized according to the water content it has.  It might be having either 50% less moister or 50% moisture content.  Hard or rigid contact lenses are made up of harder material and is gas permeable.


Hard contact lenses can be used for months or probably years.  They can be replaced after the use of around months to a year.  While the soft contact lens needs replacement every month or some even need to be replaced every week to two weeks.  Some even more advanced lenses can be worn round the clock, both day and night.  But regular cleaning is a must for all these contact lenses.


Apart from wearing for vision problems, some even wear contact lenses for style and for cosmetic reasons.  There contact lenses which come in different colors and adds style to your eyes.
